About
Cheree Records was born out of the Sowing Seeds Fanzine created in the late 1980s by Paul May and Nick Allport in South Woodford, London. Sowing Seeds was based around the U.K. indie scene of the time and built up a substantial circulation.
The debut Cheree Records release was a 7” flexi. “Soundhead (Live At ULU 13 May 88)” by Loop b/w “Forever Close Your Eyes” by The Telescopes was released during the summer of 1988. The label's second release was a 7” single by the Telescopes, “Kick The Wall”, which well and truly launched both the band and Cheree Records.
